76ers Injury Report and Updates

The 76ers’ injury woes remain their most significant issue, especially for their two main stars, Joel Embiid and Paul George. While these two players are considered among the best in the league today, they are also among the most injury-prone, which has affected their ability to compete effectively.

This remains the case heading into Thursday’s game against the Golden State Warriors. George, who has been limited to only six games this year, will not suit up for this game due to a knee injury.

Meanwhile, Embiid is expected to play after being listed as questionable ahead of the game. In fact, he will take his usual position as the team’s starting center in this contest.

This will only be the second time that Embiid suits up in the last 12 games. He has also been limited to only eight games this season.

Additionally, the 76ers will also be without Kelly Oubre Jr., who is also dealing with a knee injury, as well as Trendon Watford, who is out due to an adductor injury.

Among the three players who will miss the team’s game against the Warriors, George has the earliest estimated return date. ESPN places his potential return for (Friday) Dec. 5, when they face off against the Milwaukee Bucks. Oubre’s return is estimated for Dec. 12, and Watford could be back in the lineup by Dec. 18.

While the Sixers have played with most of their key stars injured, it has given way to rookie VJ Edgecombe’s strong start. Entering Thursday night’s game against the Warriors, the first-year guard is averaging 14.7 points on 40.9/36.0/73.7 percent shooting splits.

He’s also shown flashes of a well-rounded game with 5.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

Next to Edgecombe is his backcourt running mate, Tyrese Maxey. The All-Star guard is on pace to have the best statistical season of his career, having averaged 32.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.5 assists in 20 games. All of these numbers would be career highs for Maxey should the season finish today.

Through the injuries to Embiid and George, the 76ers fans have a lot to look forward to with the pairing of Maxey and Edgecombe.
