James Harden was asked about the challenges that the Los Angeles Clippers have faced in the early stages of the 2025-2026 NBA season, and the NBA veteran’s response gained the attention of the basketball community.
Despite being regarded as one of the greatest scorers and shooting guards in the history of the league, Harden has yet to win an NBA championship throughout his career.
While many members of his fanbase believe that it is still possible for Harden to win a title with the Clippers, his response when asked about their struggles has not been reassuring.
James Harden Accepts That the Season Could Go Further Downhill for the Los Angeles Clippers
After falling short in the first round of the playoffs last season, the Clippers made several additions to their roster this offseason. They brought in experienced stars such as Chris Paul and Bradley Beal. Unfortunately, that has not been enough to keep them afloat in an increasingly competitive Western Conference.
As things stand, the Clippers hold one of the worst records in the West at 5-15. After losing to the Dallas Mavericks, another team that has been struggling greatly to start the season, Harden was interviewed and asked to share his thoughts on his team.
He initially pointed out that the Clippers had the lead in most of their games but ended up letting it slip away. The Clippers star was then asked if the start to the season could be salvaged, “What other choice we got?”

The reporter then sheepishly pointed out that it was possible for the Clippers’ season to go further downhill. While Harden could have used this opportunity to reassure his fan base, he failed to do so. “It can….We’ll see.”
Perhaps Clippers fans feel disappointed to hear one of their key stars display a lack of enthusiasm and a will to “right the ship” and regain the season’s momentum. There is no denying that the Clippers will fail to qualify for the postseason if they are unable to address their issues and start winning games.
Their success in upcoming games against the Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Houston Rockets will play a significant role in determining their position this season.
Every one of those teams has performed better than the Clippers to start the season. Additionally, most of them have young talent and a talented bench. This is something that an aging roster like the Clippers struggles to deal with.
If the Clippers end up losing to teams like the Memphis Grizzlies, who have a slightly better record at 8-12, that will only increase the gap between the Clippers and the other postseason contenders in the West. The Clippers’ fan base is left hoping that their team will win most of the games on their upcoming schedule.
