Joel Embiid is, without a doubt, the face of the Philadelphia 76ers franchise. The 31-year-old center has remained committed to positioning the team as a championship contender, establishing himself as one of the premier players of his era.
However, Embiid’s career has been frequently hindered by injuries, which have posed recurring challenges. With the star currently sidelined, fans are closely monitoring for any updates regarding his condition.
Latest on Joel Embiid’s Recovery
On Sunday, the 76ers lost 127-117 against the Miami Heat.
And while the team is trying to keep its campaign alive, Embiid — out due to right knee injury management — missed his seventh straight game. He has been out for 10 of their 16 matchups this season, raising red flags about the team’s 2025-26 campaign.
However, new reports suggest that Embiid might be moving toward his much-awaited recovery. According to Underdog NBA, Embiid “fully participated” on Monday, which increases the chances of a return.

Practicing does not necessarily indicate that Embiid will return for the next game. He remains listed as questionable for the 76ers’ NBA Cup matchup against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday.
Sixers writer Adam Aaronson further elaborated on the situation, sharing an update from 76ers head coach Nick Nurse. “Nick Nurse says Joel Embiid’s spirit is ‘good’ even though he’s frustrated to be out. ‘He’s trying, doing a lot of stuff to try to get back on the floor,'” Aaronson wrote on X.
Some fans, of course, weren’t satisfied with the update, demanding a proper return timeline from the team. Others were frustrated over the multiple games missed, confident there’s no way Embiid would play soon.
Averaging 19.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game this season, Embiid’s continued injury issues have sparked fatigue among the NBA world and fans. Many have demanded that the team take action, wondering why Philadelphia even needs him.
Tyrese Maxey, Nick Nurse Want Embiid to be Healthy and Playing Again
On Monday, 76ers star Tyrese Maxey and Nurse spoke to the media about Embiid, both wishing him the best of health and a speedy recovery. Maxey maintained that he wanted his teammate to be happy, eagerly awaiting his return to the court.
“As a friend, you just want to him to be healthy enough to play,” Maxey said during practice. “I want him to be happy. As long as he’s happy, then I’m happy.”
Nurse, on his end, revealed that while Embiid is “good,” he remains frustrated about his injury situation. What’s important, though, is getting back in good spirits.
“I think he was cognizant that he was feeling something there, and he immediately wanted to get it figured out. Again, like I said — I think it was last night — that he’s trying doing a lot of stuff to try to get back on the floor, so his spirits are good,” Nurse said.
Currently eighth in the Eastern Conference, the 76ers will host the Magic on Tuesday before traveling to face the Brooklyn Nets on Friday. Both are NBA Cup matchups.
