JJ Redick Calls Out Lakers for Being ‘1 of the Worst Teams in the NBA’ in This Crucial Stat

Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick was livid after the team's fourth straight win due to continued struggles in one area in particular.

The Los Angeles Lakers continue to win games consistently, with the storied franchise now having won four straight after defeating the Utah Jazz on the road at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

As a result of Sunday’s win in Utah, the Lakers are sporting an impressive 12-4 record, which has propelled them up the Western Conference standings, with only the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder having a better record in the conference at 17-1. However, head coach JJ Redick is still unhappy with one area where the team is struggling.

JJ Redick Blasts Lakers for Poor Shooting

The Lakers may be winning while turning heads around the league, but Redick wants to see some serious improvement in the shooting department, as he made clear after the two-point win over the Jazz on Sunday.

Redick said, “I told the guys this after the game: We’re literally one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA right now. I don’t think that’s who we are. We’ve gotta make shots and we’ve gotta shoot ’em with confidence.”

Ironically enough, the Lakers lead the league in field-goal percentage at 51.1. However, they are near the bottom of the league in three-point shooting at 33.8 percent, which is likely what is bothering Redick, especially considering that was his specialty during his playing career.

With the 2025-26 NBA season only 16 games in for the Lakers, there’s plenty of time for this team to right the ship in shooting from beyond the arc. These kinds of stretches of poor shooting tend not to last too long when you’ve got players like Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves that can get red hot from distance.

It’ll be interesting to see if the team can start to improve their three-point shooting moving forward, as Redick will almost certainly emphasize it after what he said on Sunday night.

As for what’s next for the Lakers on the court, the team will host the Los Angeles Clippers for the first time at Crypto.com Arena this season on Tuesday. It will be an NBA Cup matchup between the crosstown rivals, with the Lakers being one of the hottest teams in the league while the Clippers have really struggled, winning only five of the 17 games they’ve played so far.

It’s a classic matchup of two teams with big-name players heading in opposite directions to get the season underway.
