Who is Louisville QB Deuce Adams?

According to a recent report from College Football Insider Pete Thamel, Louisville’s starting quarterback is due to sit out today’s game. This means that the Freshman, Adams, will take over as the starter for the first time, with redshirt junior Brady Allen rotating with him.

“Sources: Louisville quarterback Miller Moss is not expected to play today with a foot injury suffered this week. Louisville is expected to start redshirt freshman Deuce Adams and rotate in redshirt junior Brady Allen.” The report from Thamel read.

According to his player profile on 247Sports, the Freshman quarterback was a three-star recruit coming out of Austin Vandergrift. After throwing for 3,007 yards, 34 touchdowns, and six interceptions as a Junior in 2022, he committed to Louisville in 2023.

“Mainly, the offense, with the numbers it has put in the past. I feel like I can be a great fit in that offense. Secondly, I’ve built a great relationship with coach Brian Brohm and head coach Jeff Brohm and I feel like we can do great things together.” Adams stated after his commitment.

Deuce’s father, Mike, who was one of Deuce’s high school coaches, was a three-time all-conference player at the University of Texas. Adams was the all-time leader in nearly every receiving category when he finished his Longhorns career in 1996.

“When I was young, he was really, really hard on us. But we started to develop into young adults, and he’s laid off a little bit.” Adams revealed in 2022 what it was like growing up with a coach for a father. Deuce Adams also has a brother, Eli, who is also enrolled at the University of Louisville.

This season, according to PFSN’s QB impact rankings, Moss is the 88th-best quarterback in the nation. With an impact score of 78.4, the starter has thrown for 2344 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. However, he has struggled in recent weeks.

“We believe in Miller, and we believe in all of our quarterbacks. We’ll always have a plan ready for all of them, at some point, in different aspects,” Jeff Brohm stated, before it was revealed that Moss was sitting out today’s game due to an injury.

Adams could not be faced with a tougher test for his first start at quarterback for Louisville. Against a 7-3 SMU team, who have the 19th-best defense in the country according to PFSN’s Defensive Impact rankings.

With both teams on 7-3, this game could have huge implications for the ACC. While Louisville is all but out of the race, SMU could still potentially make the conference championship. The Mustangs have a 20.1% chance according to PFSN’s playoff meter.
