Blockbuster trades like the stunning Luka Dončić–Anthony Davis swap usually own the NBA news cycle. But this month, the loudest shockwave was not about a superstar changing teams but it was about a superstar changing shoes.
Stephen Curry’s split from Under Armour after more than a decade has flipped sneaker talk into front-page drama. For fans used to seeing the Curry logo on his feet, the visual reset has been jarring.
Now just as the dust starts to settle, teammate Draymond Green has thrown gasoline on the fire with a sly tease about what comes next.

Stephen Curry Might Soon Sign With a Sneaker Brand
Curry’s sneaker journey has evolved almost step-for-step with his rise up the NBA hierarchy. He was drafted seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors in 2009 and he began his career in Nike. That partnership fizzled out in 2013 after a now-infamous presentation, where a mispronunciation of his name and a generally flat pitch by then-executive Nico Harrison left Curry feeling like an afterthought.
He turned to Under Armour which was a gamble at the time that ultimately reshaped how brands valued sharpshooting. From there, his line exploded. The debut Curry 1 in 2015 built a reputation on support and stability, the Curry 4 added low-cut quickness to match Golden State’s 2017 title sprint, and the Curry Flow 8 turned heads with its light, springy cushioning and on-court comfort for hoopers and collectors alike.
As Under Armour tightened its belt and refocused on core categories, that relationship finally came to an end in November 2025. Both sides agreed to move on, with the Curry Brand branching off on its own instead of living under the UA umbrella.
The split does not eliminate his existing models overnight as Under Armour will still roll out the Curry 13 in February 2026 as the final official chapter of their partnership, with fresh colorways scheduled into October 2026. But it does mark the start of a new, independent era for Curry’s name in the sneaker space.
Naturally, the burning question for every Curry fan is simple that which giant will he sign with next? As per “NBC Sports News,” Curry’s teammate Green hinted that Curry’s next move is not far off, suggesting that a fresh endorsement deal could materialize sooner rather than later.
“I don’t expect this to be something that’s going to take a very long time. Like Steph is pretty dialed in and pretty calculated in what he wants to do. But I think this could be very big,” said Green.
Since his abrupt breakup with Under Armour on Nov. 13 Curry has treated the court like a rotating tribute wall. In his first game after the news against the San Antonio Spurs, he warmed up in Nike’s Kobe 6 Protro “Mambacita Sweet 16,” which was a heartfelt nod to Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna.
The next outing in Orlando, he showed up in Reebok’s Shaqnosis which was a bold, bulky ’90s classic linked to Shaquille O’Neal, then changed into the neon-charged Nike Air Penny 2 “Volt” for warmups, tipping his cap to Penny Hardaway’s Magic-era swagger.
Even while sidelined by an ankle tweak in Miami, Curry kept the storyline alive, sitting on the bench in the Li-Ning Way of Wade 1 “Purple Stingray,” extending his run of homages to past and present legends.
Off-court sneaker drama aside, Curry has been showing his elite skills as he is averaging 28.6 points, 4.1 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in just 31.1 minutes per game while also shooting threes at a 40.4% clip and helping the Warriors stay afloat at 9–9.
Next up, Curry and the Warriors take on the Utah Jazz on Nov. 24. Fans will tune in not only to see whether he drops another great performance but also to see which sneakers he steps on court with next.
