Lakers Star Austin Reaves Goes Viral With Hilarious Joke About LeBron James and Bronny James Switching Places

Los Angeles Lakers star Austin Reaves couldn't help but take a subtle and hilarious shot at LeBron James for his G League assignment.

After a bumpy stretch during their five-game road trip, marked by two blowout losses to the Atlanta Hawks and Oklahoma City Thunder, the Los Angeles Lakers bounced back with a vengeance, securing two solid wins against the New Orleans Pelicans and Milwaukee Bucks to conclude the team’s road trip. Amid the happy vibes, Austin Reaves had some jokes for LeBron James and his son Bronny.

Lakers’ Star’s Hilarious Joke About LeBron and Bronny James

While the Lakers have been wrapping up the first long road trip of the 2025-26 NBA season, LeBron has been ramping up his rehab to make his season debut next week. The superstar forward has been practicing with the G League affiliate South Bay Lakers to work up to getting back on the floor on the NBA level, which Austin Reaves finds pretty funny, with Bronny coming off his first start of the season against the Bucks.

After the impressive win over the Bucks on Saturday, Reaves spoke to the media in the locker room and brought up Bronny James starting on the NBA level and his father being assigned to the G League, via Oh No He Didn’t X account.

Although Bronny James was in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game in Milwaukee, with Marcus Smart on the mend due to an illness, the second-year guard played only 10 minutes and finished with zero points, one assist, and one steal.

As for his father, the four-time NBA MVP appears to be progressing well during his ramp-up to returning to the floor. He has put in a few days of practice with South Bay, and if everything continues to go well, he’ll likely make his season debut next week against the Utah Jazz on November 18, which will be the team’s first game back at Crypto.com Arena following the conclusion of their five-game road trip.

That matchup with the Jazz in Los Angeles might be the ideal opportunity to make his debut, with the next game after that being on the road in Utah, which will take place five days later on Nov. 23, giving him ample time to recover from his first full game back.

Without LeBron, the Lakers have won 10 of the 14 games they’ve played thus far, which has the team in fourth place in the Western Conference standings behind the Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets, and Thunder.

That’s an incredible start for a team that has already dealt with several injuries to key players and might be an indication of how talented this Lakers squad will be during the 2025-26 campaign.
