NBA Insider Reveals What Mavericks Firing GM Nico Harrison Means for Anthony Davis’ Future

Find out more on the plans the Dallas Mavericks have for Anthony Davis after recently firing former GM Nico Harrison.

With Nico Harrison no longer holding the position of General Manager for the Dallas Mavericks, Anthony Davis’ future with the organization is the next top priority that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

Nine months ago, Harrison stunned the basketball community by trading away Luka DonÄŤić, a star who was yet to enter his prime and wanted to remain with the team, in return for Davis. Although Harrison wholeheartedly appeared to believe that this move would help the Mavericks win an NBA championship, the team’s performance has deteriorated drastically since DonÄŤić’s exit.

Due to various injuries, Davis has been inconsistent for the Mavericks and is currently sidelined due to a calf injury. His unpredictable health status, along with Harrison’s recent termination, has fans wondering if Davis will remain with the Mavericks.

The Dallas Mavericks Aim To Get Maximum Value for Anthony Davis

There is simply no getting around the fact that the Mavericks’ decision to trade away DonÄŤić was a terrible move, one that may have set the franchise back several years in its pursuit of an NBA championship.

As things stand, the Mavericks have neither Kyrie Irving nor Davis in their lineup, which has led to the team holding a subpar record of three wins and eight losses. Given that there is no way to know if Davis will be able to return and remain healthy, many have begun to wonder if the Mavericks will trade him away in a desperate attempt to improve their situation.

According to NBA Insider Marc Stein, Davis’ agent has a good relationship with the owner of the Mavericks and has remained in contact ever since the 2020 NBA champion was traded to the team.

As for what Nico Harrison’s dismissal means for Anthony Davis’ future in Dallas: Sources tell@TheSteinLine and @DLLS_Sports that Davis’ agent Rich Paul has established a strong relationship with Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont since February’s trade. They are in regular contact.”

This report implies that Davis has some leverage and power to negotiate. Many members of the basketball community believe that it is only a matter of time before the Mavericks trade away Davis. The new GM may have no choice but to find the best deal and enter a rebuild.

Irving’s expected absence this season due to his ACL injury only complicates the issue, making it harder for the Mavericks to make an important roster decision. Fans are left wondering if Davis will remain on the squad and whether Rich Paul’s influence can help him join his preferred team.
