Anthony Davis is dealing with an injury again. The Dallas Mavericks star has missed the last three games due to an injury he sustained against the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 29. Since then, things haven’t been smooth for the Mavericks as they struggle to get into the win column.
The Mavericks need Davis back in the lineup. Will he be available against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday?
Mavericks Provide an Update on Anthony Davis’ Availability for Friday
During the Mavericks’ game against the Pacers in late October, Davis suffered a low-grade left calf strain. He sustained the injury after only seven minutes of play. Dallas then decided to sit him out for the rest of the game to prevent the injury from worsening.
Since then, Davis has missed games against the Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, and New Orleans Pelicans. Initially, the Mavericks announced that their star big man would miss only two games. However, after he missed his third consecutive game, it seems the injury could be worse than anticipated.
Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd initially said that Davis would be day-to-day with his leg injury.
On Thursday, NBA insider Marc Stein provided an update regarding Davis’ availability for the Mavericks’ game against the Grizzlies on Friday. According to Stein, Davis is listed as doubtful, meaning it’s likely the big man will miss his fourth straight game of the season.
“The Mavericks have moved Anthony Davis (left calf strain) to doubtful for Friday’s game in Memphis after Davis missed Dallas’ past three games,” Stein reported on X.

Davis is notorious for missing games due to injuries. Last season, the star big man played in only 51 games — 42 with the Los Angeles Lakers and nine with Dallas after being traded for Luka Doncic.
The Mavericks are currently at the bottom of the Western Conference with a 2-6 record, and being without Davis, who is averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks this season, is a significant blow.
Meanwhile, Dallas’ former franchise cornerstone, Doncic, is thriving in Los Angeles as the Slovenian star effectively leads the Lakers to an impressive start. The Lakers sit in second place in the West with a 7-2 record and a five-game win streak.
