NBA Insider Announces Massive Update On Timberwolves Star Anthony Edwards’ Hamstring Injury

Good news for Minnesota Timberwolves fans: A positive development has emerged regarding Anthony Edwards’ hamstring injury.

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has seen the start of his 2025-26 season slowed by a lingering medical issue, affecting one of the Western Conference’s top offenses. Timberwolves fans, however, may have reason to breathe easier following the latest update on the explosive guard.

Positive News on Anthony Edwards’ Hamstring

The Timberwolves have had a rocky start to their 2025-26 NBA campaign, partly because Edwards has missed time due to a right hamstring strain sustained last month. But Edwards is set to get back return to action tonight.

ESPN senior NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Edwards has been cleared to suit up for Minnesota against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night. Charania added that the team previously held “strong optimism” regarding the three-time All-Star’s status.

Team doctors gave Edwards the green light for on-court contact activities on Monday (Nov. 3). After sustaining the injury in Minnesota’s Oct. 26 game against the Indiana Pacers, the medical staff had originally projected a two-week recovery, targeting a return on Nov. 14 against the Sacramento Kings.

Edwards has been working hard to come back and was seen engaging in drills with the team at shootaround ahead of Monday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, captured in video by Minnesota Star Tribune reporter Chris Hine. The four consecutive games he has missed so far mark the most absences in his four-year career.

The guard’s return against the Knicks would be huge, as it’s a nationally televised game and the first matchup between two teams that shook the NBA last year by pulling off a trade that sent center Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks for forward Julius Randle and guard Donte DiVincenzo. Both teams fared well after that offseason move, with each reaching the conference finals.

Minnesota is currently seventh in the Western Conference at 4-3, the same record as New York. The Knicks are on a win streak, beating the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards in back-to-back home games. Meanwhile, the Wolves have a streak of their own, defeating the Charlotte Hornets and Brooklyn Nets.

Given Anthony Edwards’ penchant for playing with dramatic flair, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary if team doctors cleared him to return ahead of schedule, even with limited minutes. The opportunity to come back and resume his high scoring in the “World’s Most Famous Arena” might be too good to pass up.
