The 2025–26 NBA regular season hasn’t been kind to the Memphis Grizzlies so far. Sitting at a 3–3 record, the team has struggled to find its rhythm despite flashes of promise.

What Comments From Ja Morant Have Gone Viral?

After the game, Morant faced reporters who questioned his poor performance and the team’s overall struggles.

Instead of addressing his play directly, he seemed to deflect responsibility by taking subtle shots at his own coaching staff. When asked what went wrong offensively, Morant repeatedly told reporters to “go ask the coaching staff.”

When journalists pressed further, he hinted at a possible rift within the locker room, suggesting that there was more behind the scenes than fans were being told.

“According to them, probably don’t play me, honestly… That’s basically what the message was. It’s cool,” added Morant during the interview.

It wasn’t an outright callout, but it was close enough to spark a firestorm.

What Are Fans Saying Regarding Ja Morant’s Comments?

Towards the end of last season, the Grizzlies’ former head coach, Taylor Jenkins, was fired. It was a move that was reportedly caused by multiple factors, including a noticeable decline in team defense and, most notably, rumors that Morant was unhappy with Jenkins’ coaching style.

Now, with Morant once again indirectly blaming his coaches, many fans are suggesting that perhaps the problem isn’t on the sidelines, but it’s Morant himself.

“he hasn’t matured a bit since joining the league….sad to see tbh. they already fired a coach so i don’t think they’ll be looking at the coaching staff this time around Ja,” said one fan.

Just two nights earlier, Morant was the hero as he dropped 28 points and sealed a thrilling win over the Phoenix Suns. But against the Lakers, he managed only eight points on a miserable 3-of-14 shooting performance in 31 minutes.

It was a drastic drop-off in production, and as we can see, fans weren’t willing to let him off the hook; they argued that it made no sense to blame the coaching staff when his own shot selection and decision-making were clearly the issues.

“The coaching staff not in the game shooting the ball. You went 3/14. That’s on you,” wrote another fan.

Soon, social media was buzzing with trade speculation, with fans wondering if Memphis might actually consider moving its star guard if the internal tension continues to grow.

The idea of pairing Morant with Minnesota Timberwolves’ star Anthony Edwards became a hot talking point, even if it was purely hypothetical.

“Bring him the Wolves!! We need a PG. imagine him and Ant,” said another fan.

While most fans were busy criticizing Morant for his comments, one user took a more understanding stance. They suggested that the guard’s remarks weren’t necessarily meant as an attack on the coaching staff, but the comments instead came from a place of frustration after another tough loss.

“Or he’s just frustrated that they aren’t winning like any other player would be if they were losing as a team,” said one user.

If Memphis wants less noise and more wins, alignment between Morant, the locker room, and the sideline must be the first priority.
