This week, the Long Island Nets announced that they hade traded Timme to the South Bay Lakers.

Via The Long Island Nets: “The Long Island Nets have acquired the returning player rights to guard Nate Williams from the South Bay Lakers in exchange for the returning player rights to forward Drew Timme and a first round pick in the 2027 NBA G League Draft.”

Timme is most known for his legendary college run at Gonzaga.

He averaged 21.2 points per contest during his senior season.

Via Bleacher Report (in 2023): “What a run for Drew Timme at Gonzaga – Karl Malone Award (2021) – Consensus 1st-team All-American (2023) – 2× West Coast Conference Men’s Player of the Year (2022-23) – 3× 1st-team All-WCC (2021–23) – 2 Elite Eight appearances – 1 National Champ appearance”

The South Bay Lakers also announced that Timme is on their training camp roster.

If he plays well, there is an excellent chance that he could land a 10-day contract with the Lakers (or another team).

As for the Lakers, they are currently 3-2 in their first five games of the new season.

Most recently, they have been playing without LeBron James (and Luka Doncic).

On Friday night, the Lakers will resume action when they visit Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies in Tennessee.
