It looks as if there’s no love lost between Milwaukee Bucks star Myles Turner and his former Indiana Pacers teammate, Tyrese Haliburton, based on comments Turner made about the guard in a recent podcast interview.
Why Did Myles Turner Really Leave the Pacers After the NBA Finals Run?
When Turner left the Pacers in the offseason, following their remarkable run to the NBA Finals, the league was in shock over the move, wondering if there was anything beyond the money offered that could have compelled the split. But a recent interview with the Bucks center, in which he took shots at Haliburton, might point to a reason why.

Turner was a guest on “The Thanalysis Show,” a podcast hosted by Thanasis Antetokoumpo, the teammate and brother of Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. The conversation shifted to the Pacers’ star guard and his antics at the 44-minute mark, with Thanasis bringing up Haliburton’s actions whenever the teams play each other.
“First of all, he’s a troll,” Turner began. “He enjoys that type of stuff; he enjoys being annoying, being that kind of person… I think they call it a heel, right? I think he just embraced that role. Now I do think at times he got pushed into that role based on the perception people had on him and how he’s had to carry himself, but he definitely embodies that, bro.”
Antetokounmpo and his co-host, Tony Cartagena, pointed out that Haliburton, despite being a good teammate and a stellar player, can’t seem to escape being perceived as a troll, which particularly rubbed Bucks fans the wrong way. Turner’s answer was straight to the point.
“I just feel like, one…Tyrese knows he’s protected. So he can go out there, talk his s**t, say whatever the hell he wants to do, and he knows he has backup at the end of the day,” Turner replied. “Now, he’s not going to be talking the same s**t if he’s in the middle of the street.” Antetokounmpo cut in, replying, “That’s what I’m talking about. We’re all engaged outside of the court, there could be beefs. I’ve seen that. But it’s not serious.”
Turner’s comments in the clip raised some eyebrows, with one commenter on X, formerly Twitter, named Richie Owens responding, “You don’t have to do this Myles… all they asked you to do was perform in the finals,” with an awkward emoji. Another commenter by the name of Cho brought up Turner’s statistics line from Game 7 of the Finals that the Pacers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder: “Myles Turner had 6 points and 4 rebounds in the biggest moment of his career. He shouldn’t talk about toughness.”

The comments certainly raise some questions about the nature of Turner and Haliburton’s relationship during their time with the Pacers. Turner discussed how things didn’t go as planned with the team’s front office regarding his future, leading him to sign with the Bucks on a 4-year, $107 million contract after the Bucks waived and stretched star guard Damian Lillard’s contract.
Even though Haliburton is still recovering from the torn Achilles that he suffered in last season’s Finals, Turner’s words set a backdrop for how the two will greet each other in the Bucks and Pacers’ first head-to-head game of the season, which will take place on Monday (November 3) in Indiana.
