All hopes for the Milwaukee Bucks start and end with Giannis Antetokounmpo. In an effort to keep the team competitive after repeated playoff failures over the last couple of years, the team made a blockbuster trade to swap Khris Middleton with Kyle Kuzma during the 2024-25 season.
But a bigger blow came to them when superstar point guard Damian Lillard tore his Achilles tendon in the first round of the playoffs against the Indiana Pacers.
As a result, the organization made a rare move of waiving and stretching his contract to bring in Myles Turner. While surrounded by a competent cast of role players, the entire operation was now going to live and die by their two-time MVP. It opened the can of worms regarding potential trades once again.
But through the first three games of the season, Antetokounmpo has looked as engaged as ever, as he sets a historic pace for himself.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Crosses Epic Milestone
The Eastern Conference, thanks to a plethora of injuries to the likes of Jayson Tatum and Tyrese Haliburton, is bereft of truly A+ talent, leaving the Greek Freak as the clear-cut best player in the conference.
That dominance was on full display through the first three games to begin the year. Starting the season with a comfortable 133-120 victory over the Washington Wizards, the former Defensive Player of the Year had 37 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists.
Next time out, against the Toronto Raptors, he had an equally impressive outing, as he added 31 points, 20 rebounds, seven assists, and a block on the scoreboard, leading his team to a 122-116 victory.
Against another true contender in the Cleveland Cavaliers, his superhuman exploits alone couldn’t guarantee a victory, as they lost 118-113. However, he had arguably his best individual game of the year with 40 points, 14 rebounds, nine assists, and two steals and blocks apiece.
The biggest shocker to begin the season, though, had to be the improved shooting stroke. First visible for those watching curiously during the EuroBasket over the summer, that jumper has translated to the NBA as well, as he’s started the season going 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
With an explosive start under his belt, the true magnitude of his excellence only became clear when the NBA announced how historic a start it had been for the former NBA champion.

They wrote, “Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes the FIRST player in NBA history to open a season with 100+ points, 40+ rebounds & 15+ assists through his first three games!” Doing it with elite efficiency, he was continuing to make a claim for the best player in the world throne, even as others had equally impressive starts.
