Wild Details Emerge About Blazers HC Chauncey Billups’ Rigged Poker Games After Shocking Arrest

After Chauncey Billups was arrested by the FBI for an illegal gambling scheme, the shocking details of the rigged poker games came to light.

The 2025-26 NBA season has already gotten off to a wildly shocking start. After an excellent slate of games over the first two days, the situation turned into pandemonium when NBA star Terry Rozier and the current head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, Chauncey Billups, were arrested after an FBI investigation into illegal gambling.

The situation has been a shock to basketball’s very core, with several teams and figures attached to the probe. The details in the case have been weirdly surprising to outright shocking in most cases. A specific trail about rigged poker games, in particular, involving Billups, is turning heads as the investigation’s details go viral.

The Rigged Poker Games Involving Chauncey Billups

A 17-year veteran of the game, Billups was one of the best point guards of his era, winning a championship and the Finals MVP in 2004. Nicknamed “Mr. Big Shot,” he was one of the best clutch shot-makers in the history of the sport.

A celebrated career saw him make five All-Star teams before he called it quits. Shifting to a media role, he was eventually hired by Portland to be their new head coach in 2021, three years before his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

However, four years into his tenure, a shocking investigation into poker games rigged by the mafia has gotten him arrested. The role Billups played was of a “Face Card,” a recognizable professional athlete who could attract other big-money players to lose at the game. The exact details, obtained from the indictment, are a shocking read.

“The Rigged Shuffling Machines were secretly altered to use concealed technology to
read the cards in the deck, predict which player at the table had the best poker hand, and relay that information via interstate wires to an off-site operator (the ‘Operator’).

“The Operator then communicated that information by cellular telephone to a member of the Cheating Team seated at the Rigged Game poker tables, referred to as the ‘Quarterback’ or ‘Driver,’ who used secret signaling to share the information with the other members of the Cheating Teams playing in the Rigged Games.”

Additionally, other technology, including specialized contact lenses and sunglasses, was also part of various techniques that the team used to rig the games in their favor. Ultimately, Billups was used as bait to attract others into the scheme.

But that didn’t make him any less guilty of the crimes. This story just keeps getting crazier and crazier, and don’t be surprised if it ends up being a movie someday.
