‘He’s Gonna Challenge MJ’ – NBA Fans Stunned Over Victor Wembanyama’s Workout Session After 40-Point Game

San Antonio Spurs star big man Victor Wembanyama stole the show in the season debut against the Dallas Mavericks, and the fans are hyped up.

When all eyes were set on Cooper Flagg, a fellow former No. 1 pick was eager to steal his thunder. Victor Wembanyama had one of the most impressive performances in recent NBA history, leading the new-look San Antonio Spurs to a 125-92 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

The French big man was everywhere in his first game since being shut down with blood clots last season, and it seems like the rest of the league could be in trouble.

Fans Rave About Victor Wembanyama’s Performance

Wembanyama dominated Anthony Davis as if he were just another defender, all while putting up 40 points on offense. Needless to say, it didn’t take long before fans flooded social media to talk about his performance.

Here are some of the best reactions:

“He’s gonna challenge MJ for the title of GOAT,” one fan wrote.

“He wants it so bad man real life superhero,” another fan added.

“Yeah, bro about to have that generational season,” another one said.

“Goku ain’t train this hard, we’re f*cked,” another fan argued.

Wembanyama scored the most points by any Spurs player in a season opener in franchise history.

He knocked down 15 of 21 shots, nine of eleven free throws, and one of his two three-pointer attempts. That three was just after swatting Dereck Lively II’s shot into oblivion, taking the ball down the court, and stepping back for a four-point play.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, he also had 15 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and three blocks.

Victor Wembanyama Warns The League

As impressive a performance as this was, the former No. 1 pick is still far from satisfied after just one win. While he admitted that he felt great out there, he also knows he’s just getting started:

“[I was] much more in control of myself,” Wembanyama said after the game, per ESPN.

“The mind, I’m not worried about [that] because I saw what it’s like to be confronted with potentially losing a lot, whether it’s your career or your health. So I’m not taking this for granted anymore. The body? I’m having more fun now that I’m not struggling to move as much. I know I still need to get better, and I’m still going to get better.”

Wembanyama was in the midst of another great season last year before he had to be shut down with blood clots.

The Spurs, which looked poised to make a playoff run, ultimately fell short of that goal. Now, things look promising in the first official year of the Mitch Johnson era.

Reigning Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle also turned heads with 22 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, and rookie guard Dylan Harper had 15 points on 50% shooting off the bench.
