Is Jaylen Brown Playing Tonight? Latest Injury Update on Celtics Star for 76ers Game

With the 2024-25 season here, let's have a look at Jaylen Brown's status for the Celtics-76ers clash at TD Garden.

With Jayson Tatum sidelined for a significant amount of time, Jaylen Brown is deemed the centerpiece of the Boston Celtics’ offense during the 2025-26 season. The Celtics have been in the spotlight after Tatum’s Achilles injury, derailing their chances to chase a potential 19th title.

However, the Celtics’ chances don’t seem to be improving. The team continues to face multiple hurdles, especially with numerous stars injured during the start of their season.

Is Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown Playing Tonight vs. the Philadelphia 76ers?

As of now, the Celtics might have an even more depleted roster for their upcoming clash against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Recent reports show Brown is listed as questionable due to a left hamstring strain. Of course, Tatum is the only other player missing on the Celtics’ roster.

However, the 76ers won’t be coming in at full strength either.

Jared McCain (right thumb) and Trendon Watford (left hamstring tightness) are listed as inactive for Wednesday’s game. Paul George, who is suffering from a knee injury, is also unconfirmed for the game.

However, with Joel Embiid back on the court, the Sixers have a better chance of winning against the Celtics.

Brown, in an earlier statement, had spoken about his injury. The Celtics icon reassured fans about his health, confident that he’s feeling good despite the scary injury.

“We’ll take it one day at a time, but as of now, I feel great,” Brown told the media after practice.

There’s a clear difference between the Celtics’ depth this season, with key players like Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porziņģis leaving for the Portland Trail Blazers and the Atlanta Hawks, respectively.

Al Horford has also signed with the Golden State Warriors.

Brown understands that the team must adjust, especially without Tatum as their leader. And while Brown has continued to prove his loyalty, a new campaign before Tatum returns might be more cumbersome than anticipated.

Brown Chose to Play for the Celtics Despite Lingering Injury Issues Last Season

Last season, Brown played with a knee injury. However, instead of having surgery, Brown decided to prioritize his team and the 2025 playoffs.

“I had the option either to get surgery right away or kinda just manage it, get through the season, and get through the playoffs,” Brown revealed in an interview. “It happened too late into the season that I didn’t have a choice. ‘Cause like I’m not going to miss the playoffs for nothing. So, we grinded through it.”

Last season, Brown averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game, while shooting 46.3% from the field, 32.4% from the three-point range, and 76.4% from the free-throw line. Additionally, he scored  22.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 11 postseason games.

The Celtics-76ers clash is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the TD Garden.
