Bucks Star Reveals Giannis Antetokounmpo’s True Feelings on Bucks Future

Bucks star reveals Giannis Antetokounmpo’s honest thoughts on his future with Milwaukee, sparking buzz around the team’s outlook.

Bobby Portis has been around long enough to know when something matters. The Milwaukee Bucks veteran, entering his 11th season, talked openly about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future and mindset, and it came at a time when Milwaukee’s recent first-round exits, coaching changes, and big roster moves have everyone watching. Portis said he checked in with Antetokounmpo throughout the offseason, and what he heard was simple: the two-time MVP is “all in.”

The stakes feel real with the Bucks stacking Antetokounmpo family talent, making a headline move for a rival center, and locking in Portis on a new deal. The question is how it all comes together on the court.

How Will Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Future With the Milwaukee Bucks Evolve?

On the latest episode of “The Run It Back Show” with Chandler Parsons, DeMarcus Cousins, and Lou Williams, Portis was asked about his NBA All-Star teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Bucks.

Looking ahead to the 2025–2026 NBA season, Antetokounmpo’s run in Milwaukee has been a long journey. After winning a championship in 2021, the Bucks had first-round exits in the last three years, once against the Miami Heat in the 2022–23 playoffs and twice against the Indiana Pacers during the 2023–24 and 2024–25 seasons.

Those results came alongside major organizational changes. Milwaukee fired Mike Budenholzer in 2023 and made an abrupt move with Adrian Griffin, then surprised many by hiring Doc Rivers last season. With that kind of turnover, executives, players, and fans have closely watched Antetokounmpo’s future and whether it stays tied to a Bucks uniform.

Antetokounmpo has been linked to the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat in the past, but has remained in Milwaukee. Portis shared that he frequently contacted Antetokounmpo this offseason to gauge his mindset as he sorted out his next move. He said the Greek Freak is “all in” on the Bucks’ plans. With Milwaukee aligning around the Antetokounmpo family, the Bucks currently have four Antetokounmpo players on their roster: Giannis, Thanasis, Alex, and Kostas Antetokounmpo.

The franchise was also part of a blockbuster move, acquiring Eastern Conference division rival center Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers. The organization is showing Antetokounmpo that he is a focal point of its future and that it is willing to give him the tools to push for a strong season and a deep playoff run.

Meanwhile, his teammate Portis has inked a new three-year, $44 million contract, and he will lend his services to the team for the next few years. Milwaukee faces a challenging path, with teams like the Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics, and Cleveland Cavaliers making roster adjustments this offseason and acquiring new players. Fans will watch to see if the front office’s plan delivers quickly and if the coaching staff can build a system where the new pieces mesh.

With Antetokounmpo already at age 30, his window for success narrows as his career progresses. For Milwaukee, the time to win is now.
