NBA Fans React To New York Knicks Releasing 12-Year Veteran

The New York Knicks have waived an NBA veteran before the start of the 2025-26 season.

Alex Len is coming off a year where he appeared in 46 games for the Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers.

The former Maryland star had averages of 1.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per contest while shooting 50.8% from the field and 22.2% from the three-point range.

New York Knicks Waive Alex Len

Over the offseason, Len signed a deal with the New York Knicks. However, he has now been waived.

Len was the fifth pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.

He has also spent time playing for the Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors.

His career averages are 6.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 51.0% from the field and 32.2% from the three-point range in 690 games.

The Knicks are coming off a year where they reached the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2000 (they lost to the Indiana Pacers in six games).

Via Keith Smith of Spotrac: “The Knicks announced the waivers of Alex Len, Garrison Mathews and Matt Ryan. It appears New York will keep Landry Shamet and Mohamed Diawara to get to the 14-player minimum. 15th spot will stay open until minimum contracts prorate enough that NY can fill under their hard cap.”
