Should You Draft Goga Bitadze in Fantasy Basketball?

Goga Bitadze is coming off his best NBA season in which he put up career-highs in points (7.2), rebounds (6.6), assists (2.0), blocks (1.4), steals (0.7), and field goal percentage (61.1%) because he played the most minutes (20.4) of his NBA career. After Moe Wagner tore his ACL last December, Bitadze was thrust into a larger role and took advantage of his increased opportunity. He ultimately started 42 games, averaging 9.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 blocks, and .9 steals while shooting 61% from the field in 24.9 minutes per game.

While there were some trade rumors this offseason, Bitadze is back in Orlando and is a terrific backup center. He isn’t someone you should draft in fantasy leagues because his production is reliant on Wendell Carter Jr. getting hurt. When the Magic’s frontcourt is healthy, Bitadze is the third center. However, Wagner’s return timeline is up in the air and Carter is quite injury prone, so Bitadze becomes a very interesting waiver add if his number is called upon once again.
