Tyus Jones Fantasy Outlook: Should You Draft the Orlando Magic Point Guard This Year?

Should you draft Tyus Jones in fantasy basketball this year? Latest fantasy projection for the Orlando Magic point guard.

It’s the final weekend before the NBA regular season begins, which means you’re coming here for your fantasy basketball drafts.

Should you draft Tyus Jones this season? Here’s the latest outlook, projections, and rankings for the Orlando Magic Point Guard.

Should You Draft Tyus Jones in Fantasy Basketball?

It finally happened. After years of Magic fans calling for the front office to sign Tyus Jones in the offseason, Orlando made the move this summer. Jones has seemed like a perfect fit for the Magic because they desperately need to improve their 3-point percentage and they haven’t had a traditional pass-first point guard who can run the offense and make life easier for Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Co.

Last season with the Phoenix Suns, Jones averaged 10.2 points, 5.3 assists, 2.4 rebounds, 2.0 3s, and .9 steals on 44.8/41.4/89.5 shooting splits. Jones’ role in Orlando will likely be closer to the one he had in Memphis where he came off the bench and filled in as a spot starter.

The Magic seem confident that Jalen Suggs will be ready to start the regular season, but Jones should still get plenty of minutes since his passing and shooting fill some major needs. It also helps that he already has chemistry with Desmond Bane from their Grizzlies days.

Jones’ value in fantasy leagues comes from his efficiency, assists, 3s, and lack of turnovers, and he should be a reliable depth piece for your backcourt once again.
