Malik Monk Fantasy Outlook: Should You Draft the Sacramento Kings Shooting Guard This Year?

Should you draft Malik Monk in fantasy basketball this year? Latest fantasy projection for the Sacramento Kings Shooting Guard.

It’s the final weekend before the NBA regular season begins, which means you’re coming here for your fantasy basketball drafts.

Should you draft Malik Monk this season? Here’s the latest outlook, projections, and rankings for the Sacramento Kings Shooting Guard.

Should You Draft Malik Monk in Fantasy Basketball?

Last season, Malik Monk averaged a career-high 17.2 points, 5.6 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 31.6 minutes per game. In 45 starts, his numbers were even better: 18.9 PPG, 6.5 APG, 2.3 3PG, 4.0 RPG, 1.0 SPG, and 0.7 BPG in 34.6 MPG. Despite his strong campaign, Monk’s name surfaced in trade rumors this past offseason, but he ultimately stayed with the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings brought in Dennis Schroder, so expect Monk to settle back into his sixth-man role. His ability as a scorer and playmaker makes him an intriguing mid-round pick in fantasy leagues. One red flag from last season is the fact that Monk’s 3-point shooting dipped to 32.5%, leading to concerns about his efficiency.

Also, it’s possible that Monk could be traded prior to the February trade deadline, but perhaps a change of scenery could actually improve Monk’s fantasy value, particularly if it leads to a starting role or more minutes.
