Darnell Mooney Start/Sit: Latest Injury Update, Fantasy Outlook, and More

Mooney’s fantasy football value is in question as injury clouds his return. Will he bounce back or remain a risky play?

Darnell Mooney’s fantasy football outlook is uncertain as he continues to deal with a lingering injury that first appeared in Week 4. Although Atlanta’s Week 5 bye offered hope for a quick recovery, Mooney missed Week 6 and was only a limited participant in practice this week. His status for Week 7 remains closely watched, leaving fantasy managers unsure whether he will return to his role soon.

Meanwhile, his absence has opened up opportunities for others in the receiving corps, raising questions about where Mooney fits once he’s back on the field.

Darnell Mooney Injury Update

Mooney suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4, but there was hope he wouldn’t miss any additional time due to Atlanta’s Week 5 bye week. Unfortunately, Mooney was out of Week 6’s game against the Buffalo Bills. He was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday (10/15).

Mooney will hopefully return to the field in Week 7, but his practice status must be monitored throughout the week. With Mooney out, Drake London earned a 50% target share against Buffalo. Casey Washington (two targets) was the only other wide receiver to attain a target.

Mooney Fantasy Outlook

Mooney has turned 16 targets into just 79 yards (zero touchdowns) this season, a profile I’m not interested in waiting on.

The sixth-year receiver continues to deal with a hamstring injury that he suffered back in Week 4 (Week 5 bye and a DNP in Week 6), a red flag for players with a clear path to production, not to mention a shaky WR2 in an offense that can be sporadic under Penix.

I’m not ruling out the idea that Mooney carves out a role that has him earning 5-7 targets weekly, but as it stands now, I’ll let someone else worry about his health.

Suppose there is an opportunity to make an add in the coming weeks, great. If not, I don’t think I’m losing my league because I was slow to act on Atlanta’s WR2.

Mooney’s Fantasy Outlook Remains Uncertain

Mooney’s injury and uncertain practice status create questions about his immediate fantasy value. While he has potential, his limited production and ongoing health concerns make him a risky option. Fantasy managers should monitor updates closely and consider alternative targets as the season progresses. Patience could pay off, but there’s no urgency to rely on Mooney until his role and health are more secure.
