Russell Westbrook is one of the best point guards in NBA history.
However, it appeared as if the 2017 MVP would go unsigned to start the 2025-26 season.
On Wednesday afternoon, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the big news that Westbrook will sign a deal with the Sacramento Kings.
Via Charania: “BREAKING: Nine-time NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook has agreed on a deal to sign with the Sacramento Kings, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management tells ESPN. The 2017 league MVP enters his 18th NBA season.”

Westbrook finished the 2024-25 season with averages of 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.4 steals per contest while shooting 44.9% from the field and 32.3% from the three-point range in 75 games for the Sacramento Kings.

In addition to the Nuggets, Westbrook has also spent time playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers and LA Clippers over 17 seasons.
The nine-time NBA All-Star was the fourth pick in the 2008 NBA Draft out of UCLA.
The Kings are coming off a season where they lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the play-in tournament, so they missed the 2025 NBA playoffs.
They last reached the postseason in 2023.
