Israel’s Deni Avdija Reveals Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Message After Leading Greece to a Close Win

Earlier, Israel’s star Deni Avdija lavished praise on Giannis Antetokounmpo after their duel against Greece. “Giannis gave me very beautiful and moving compliments,” he said, according to BasketNews.

“Receiving compliments from a player like him is definitely exciting. Every player has their qualities. I still have the potential to be much better than I am; comparisons are irrelevant right now.”

Avdija led with 23 points, but Israel was fended off by Antetokounmpo, leading the counter-attack. On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar will face another stern test as he goes up against a bruising center in Jonas Valančiūnas. Known for his physicality, rebounding, and solid screening, he will be a challenge for Greece.

On his part, Valančiūnas also remained mum on his and Lithuania’s plans for Antetokounmpo. “I won’t tell you. That’s the game plan. Every team has its own style of play, and so do we. We will go out there and use our strengths.” He did add that the forward was a strong individual, but the team was ready.

Lithuania emerged victorious when both sides met last in the second round of the 2023 World Cup. The difference now will be Antetokounmpo and his scintillating form. His availability makes him a legitimate two-way threat as the clash promises to go down to the wire.
