Warriors Predicted To Pull Off Massive Trade for $90,720,000 Star To Help Veteran Draymond Green

Golden State faces pressure to preserve Stephen Curry and Draymond Green’s title window, with roster upgrades looming as the key to easing their load.

Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have built a dynasty with the Golden State Warriors. With their championship window shrinking, fans wonder if the front office will find the missing piece to keep them in the title hunt. Green still takes on the most challenging defensive assignments every night, but that grind gets harder as the seasons stack up. The pressure is on: Can the Warriors lighten his load before it’s too late?

Why Would Jarrett Allen Fit the Golden State Warriors and Draymond Green?

According to Sports Illustrated’s Liam Willerup, the Warriors need help up front. He points to Jarrett Allen as a perfect fit. Allen is known for protecting the rim and bringing the kind of interior defense that could take severe pressure off Draymond Green, who often guards bigger players game after game.

Willerup writes that Allen, who holds down the paint for the Cleveland Cavaliers, could give Golden State exactly what it needs: a reliable defensive anchor, so Green doesn’t have to take the bruising all season long. Allen is signed through the 2028-29 season after agreeing to a $90,720,000 extension in August 2024. With his contract rising from $20 million to $28 million by 2026-27, Cleveland could feel the squeeze if things get tough early.

If the Cavaliers decide to reset around Evan Mobley, Willerup suggests Allen might be available. That could open the door for the Warriors to add one of the most efficient bigs in the league. Allen’s inside scoring and lob finishing would pair well with Curry’s shooting and even Butler’s driving game, giving Steve Kerr something fresh to work with.

Willerup also points out that teaming Allen with Green would make the Warriors a nightmare on defense while giving shooters like Curry and Jimmy Butler more space to operate on the other end.

How Does Jonathan Kuminga Factor Into the Warriors’ Trade Plans for Jarrett Allen?

Golden State’s hopes of landing Jarrett Allen might come down to Jonathan Kuminga. The 22-year-old forward is reportedly considering a qualifying offer instead of the Warriors’ two-year $45 million extension offer. Taking that route frees up the front office to make more moves at the trade deadline.

Willerup says that if the Cavaliers struggle, moving Allen and letting Mobley take over at center could make sense for Cleveland. In that case, Kuminga would likely be part of any offer, giving the Cavaliers a young, athletic forward as they look to balance the roster and payroll.

Should a deal for Allen get done, it could totally change the outlook for Golden State. After their trade for Jimmy Butler earlier this year, the Warriors are willing to roll the dice. Willerup writes that Allen might be the move that finally gives them a balanced frontcourt.

Pairing Allen with Green could help Golden State address its rebounding issues and keep Green fresh for another postseason run. If the Warriors really want one more deep playoff push with their core of Curry and Green, then landing Jarrett Allen could be the move that gets them there.
