Nikola Vučević finally spoke out on the trade rumors that have been surrounding him over the past several weeks. The Chicago Bulls center is arguably one of the most underrated big men in the league. However, he has never come close to contending for an NBA championship so far in his career.
Given that the Bulls have been a mediocre team, to say the least, he is unlikely to win a title with them in the near future. Moreover, the team appears to be heading towards a rebuild centered around younger players, which has led to fans wondering about his future with the Bulls.
Nikola Vučević Gives Credit to the Chicago Bulls’ Upper Management
Vučević is currently participating in EuroBasket 2025 and representing Team Lithuania. He was recently interviewed and spoke on Artūras Karnišovas, the Bulls’ vice president of basketball operations, and the NBA star’s opinion on Karnišovas’ decisions so far.
“When he first got there, I thought he made some very good moves…Signing Lonzo, Caruso, Vucevic, and DeMar. I thought it was a very good team; it just did not work out. After that, sometimes it is hard to figure out what to do next. We had a lot of injuries and other challenges, but overall, I think he has done a good job…Now they have decided to go with slightly younger players, and they did a good job in the draft as well.”
Vučević emphasized his approval of the Bulls’ vice president, “I think it is understandable that fans want results right away, but sometimes you need to be patient. Overall, I think he has done some pretty good things.”
The NBA star was then asked about his future with the Bulls. Vučević kept things real when discussing the subject, “Yes, of course. I mean, it has been good for me there…We will see. I have one more year left with them, so we will see what happens if I stay or if something changes. But yeah, obviously, I would love to win in Chicago.”
Vučević has one year remaining on his contract and will be paid a little over $21.4 million this upcoming season. Since this is the final season on his deal, the Bulls will be forced to choose between trading him away and offering him a new deal. If they are unable to reach a decision, Vučević might just leave the team as a free agent.
Since Vučević is a highly respected and experienced center, several teams, such as the Los Angeles Lakers, have been involved in potential trade rumors. Fans are left wondering if he will conclude his career with the Bulls or join a contender for a chance to win an NBA championship.
