Tyrese Maxey Discloses ‘Crazy’ Moment With LeBron James During Lakers Superstar’s Offseason Workout

76ers star guard Tyrese Maxey humorously recaps how Lakers superstar forward LeBron James capped off their viral offseason workout with flair.

Philadelphia 76ers star point guard Tyrese Maxey provided insight into his recent offseason workout with Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James. Maxey humorously recounted how the 21-time All-Star capped off the session emphatically.

Maxey and James, who share the same agent, Klutch Sports Group’s Rich Paul, have made it a habit to train together each summer. Last week, NBA master trainer Chris Johnson posted a photo on Instagram of their latest link-up, highlighting their “intense & detailed” work ahead of their sixth and 23rd seasons, respectively.

The photo heightened excitement for Maxey to get back on track following his injury-plagued fifth campaign that was cut short by a right finger injury. Meanwhile, James appears as locked in as ever as he continues to defy Father Time.

What Did Tyrese Maxey Reveal About LeBron James’ Dedication at Offseason Workout?

On Friday’s episode of “The Deep 3” podcast, Maxey was asked about his viral workout with James. He underscored how he has grown accustomed to collaborating with the four-time MVP after doing so regularly over the past five years, beginning with his 2020 NBA Draft preparation.

“It’s good. I mean, working out with LeBron, this is gonna sound weird, but it’s good, like it’s normal now,” Maxey said. “I remember I worked out with him my first time when I was like 19 years old, preparing for the draft. So, now seeing him, it’s just like a big brother, just every single summer getting in some work. Try to be into the gym or work out early with him, and it’s always fun.”

When asked if he would still be going full throttle at James’ age, Maxey playfully detailed how dialed in the 40-year-old is. According to the 2024 NBA Most Improved Player, despite being the league’s oldest player, James still insists on getting up for flashy dunks with his younger counterparts.

“After the workout, Chris Johnson always wants us to do three dunks, so I’m like, ‘Alright.’ I finished mine, do my three dunks first, and then I see Bron, and he like, ‘Throw it up. Throw it up,'” Maxey said. “I’m like, ‘Nah, you don’t gotta dunk.’ I try to throw him a lob close to the rim so he can just put the ball in there. Nah, he still want to cock it back and dunk. I’m like, ‘Man, he crazy.'”

Maxey’s account aligns with another of Johnson’s posts from the workout, which showcases James throwing down slams and displaying his all-around offensive arsenal.

As such, James appears poised to extend his historic streaks of All-Star and All-NBA selections to 22 years as Maxey aims for his second All-Star nod since breaking out in 2024.
