‘The Post-Steph Future Looks Incredibly Bleak’ — NBA Analyst Rips Warriors’ ‘Depressing’ Future Amid Jonathan Kuminga Talks

In a recent segment of his show, NBA analyst Zach Lowe discussed the Golden State Warriors' bleak future without Stephen Curry.

The Golden State Warriors have built their dynasty around Stephen Curry, but what happens when he’s gone?

The franchise cornerstone has led them to four NBA championships, and fans keep hoping for a fifth title. However, the team’s future looks uncertain without their superstar. This situation becomes even more complex with Jonathan Kuminga’s future hanging in the balance.

Why Does the Post-Curry Era Look So Bleak According to NBA Analysts?

In a recent segment of ‘The Zach Lowe Show’, Lowe spoke about the Warriors’ future after Curry retires. As of now, no matter how one looks at it, Curry’s departure will mark the end of the Warriors’ dynasty.

“The other depressing thought about the Warriors as currently constructed,” the NBA analyst said. “Depressing but also like the most likely outcome by far to the end of a dynastic era, is that the two timelines thing has not happened.

“And the post-Steph future, despite all the talk about it, all the careful planning for it, several savvy picks like [Brandin] Podziemski, looks like a good pick for where he was drafted.”

Lowe went on to break down the Warriors’ draft picks, shedding some light on how Kuminga might play a role in their plans.

“Even a guy like [Trayce] Jackson-Davis looks like a good pick for where he was drafted,” Lowe added. “Despite all of that, the post-Steph future looks incredibly bleak. The Kuminga transaction, whatever it is, to me is maybe the single most important franchise-building transaction that’s coming in the next two to three to four months in the NBA.”

According to Lowe, no transaction will lead them into a happier post-Curry future. He added that Kuminga, who could have been a breakout star for the team, will most likely end up being an underwhelming player.

What Did Curry Say About the Warriors’ Quiet Offseason?

Meanwhile, the Warriors have had an uneventful 2025 offseason. Most fans have been focused on Kuminga updates, hoping to hear a decision soon about his future with the team.

Curry, speaking to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole, said:

“The narrative outside versus the narrative inside might not always be the same. We talk. We have communication. I know what’s going on to the point where I have a lot of confidence in our ability to put together a winning team next year. That’s all I want.”

Although Curry remains confident in the Warriors’ front office, fans are skeptical about their ability to make the right move. Many expected Kuminga to be traded already, especially as it may be blocking a potential Al Horford trade.

Regardless of the Kuminga decision, the Warriors will have to plan ahead if they want to secure their dynasty after Curry’s retirement.
