Two worlds collided this past weekend when Dallas Mavericks star Klay Thompson made his relationship with Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion Instagram official. The 35-year-old shooting guard posted photos of himself kissing the rapper and holding hands, confirming what fans had been speculating about for weeks.
With Thompson entering the later stages of his NBA career and Meg Thee Stallion, still climbing toward what many consider her peak years in music, both stars have built impressive financial empires. However, when it comes to net worth, one clearly dominates the other.
Does Megan Thee Stallion Have a Higher Net Worth Than Klay Thompson?
No, according to Celebrity Net Worth, Megan does not have a higher net worth than Thompson. The website states that the rapper and singer has a net worth of $30 million, while the basketball star has a net worth of $140 million.

The earnings gap becomes even more apparent when looking at their annual income. According to Forbes, Meg earned $13 million in 2022Â from royalties, endorsements, ticket sales, and merchandise sales.
For comparison, Thompson earned $55 million that year through a combination of his basketball earnings and off-the-court earnings. In 2022, he was 22nd on the list of the highest-paid athletes in the world.
Thompson also made the 2024 Forbes list of highest-paid athletes when he earned $62.3M through on-court and off-court earnings. He ranked 25th on the list.
However, he did not make the list in 2025 after he saw his earnings fall when he signed a contract with an average value of $16.6 million, compared to his earlier max contract with the Golden State Warriors, which saw him earn an annual average of $37.9 million.
How Do Their Endorsement Deals Compare?
While both stars have secured lucrative endorsement deals, Thompson’s contracts dwarf Megan Thee Stallion’s ones. According to Celebrity Net Worth, one of Thompson’s biggest endorsement deals came when, “in June 2017, Klay signed a 10-year deal with Chinese shoe brand Anta. The deal pays him a base salary of $80 million total, $8 million per year.”
Meanwhile, Megan’s endorsement deals, while substantial, operate on a different scale. According to the same website, “In 2020, Megan Thee Stallion became a global brand ambassador for the cosmetics company, Revlon. At the Super Bowl in February 2022, Megan appeared in an ad for Cheetos. She was reportedly paid $2 million to appear in the commercial.”
The website also reports that Megan was paid $1 million in her deal with Popeyes and received a franchise in addition to her monetary compensation.
“In 2022, Megan signed a $3 million deal with Time Inc. to produce a documentary based on her life,” the website says.
Both stars have diversified their brand partnerships across different industries. Forbes’s profile of Thompson states that he has signed endorsement deals with brands such as NERF, Waiakea Water, and Bevel.
On the other hand, according to Celebrity Net Worth, Megan has partnerships with brands such as True Religion jeans, Amazon Prime Day, and Planet Fitness.
Interestingly, both Thompson and Megan made the Forbes “30 Under 30” list in their respective fields in the same year. Megan made the Forbes 30 Under 30 Music list while Thompson made the 30 Under 30 Sports list in 2020.
