Utah Jazz rookie Ace Bailey’s arrival has sparked plenty of headlines, especially surrounding his draft-day drama. However, a new viral TikTok is helping flip the narrative.
The 2025 NBA Draft’s No. 5 overall pick is making waves online from home, thanks to a lighthearted video featuring Bailey and his family proudly showing off their Jazz gear.
The clip captures an upbeat vibe around the Jazz community, which is a welcome change since the rookie guard was reportedly upset after his move to Salt Lake City.

After averaging 17.6 points and 7.2 rebounds in his lone season at Rutgers, Bailey was widely projected to be a top-three pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Then, he slid slightly after a controversial pre-draft process, where he declined workouts with several top teams.
Despite not getting a workout, the Jazz still took a chance on Bailey’s upside, selecting him with the No. 5 pick. Coming off a disappointing 17–65 season, the Jazz were looking for a dynamic talent who could grow into a featured role. The team identified Bailey as that dynamic talent, recently giving him the No. 19 jersey to take center stage in their roster.
The 18-year-old is now flexing his new gear in a recent TikTok video, joining in with his family. Dray Mottishaw shared the 14-second clip on his X account, noting, “Ace Bailey’s family showing off Ace’s Jazz gear!”

In the 14-second clip, Bailey comes close to the camera with a playful dance gesture, cradling his dog in his lap to add a humorous and wholesome touch to the celebration. His family members are also showing off their jerseys, dancing, and passing by the camera one by one.
Bailey’s early interaction with the Jazz community was not without tension. When Utah selected him, Bailey appeared unhappy, and there was minimal contact with the organization. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that Bailey did not immediately participate in team activities, and the Jazz showed no interest in trading him.
Bailey’s agency, GSE Worldwide, later clarified that the reaction was misunderstood. President Andrew Witlieb stated Bailey was “thrilled to be going to Utah” and called it a great basketball fit. He also emphasized that the Jazz had done extensive scouting despite the lack of a pre-draft workout.

Since then, the 18-year-old has joined the team and participated in media events, including his introductory press conference. He has also officially signed a four-year rookie contract worth $41.2 million, including $18.6 million guaranteed. It runs through the 2028–29 season, with team options in the final two years.
After a tough season, the Jazz are looking for focus and leadership from their newest star. If the energy in the TikTok clip is any sign, Bailey may be ready to take on that role even though their relationship began with a rocky start.
