LeBron James posted a golf video that had Jordan Spieth breaking down his swing on national TV. The Lakers superstar’s attempt at golf caught the attention of the three-time major champion, and now everyone’s talking about whether the King can conquer the links.

How Did LeBron James’ Golf Debut Go Viral?
LeBron James recently posted videos of himself attempting to play golf. The 40-year-old Lakers star captioned his July 4 social media post: “Day 2 of officially trying this out! Boy o Boy it’s a mind f**k to say the least! But I think I enjoy that part of it a lot!”

The viral footage showed James hitting golf shots while smoking a cigar at a sunny golf course. His compact but unrefined swing drew comparisons to Charles Barkley’s famously awkward golf form, though James looked far more controlled than Barkley’s wild attempts.
The PGA of America even commented on his post, offering lessons when he’s ready to take the next step. Stephen Curry, known for his golf skills, welcomed James with a comment: “We’ve been waiting for you.
This response from the golf world shows how James’s compact swing approach caught the attention of professionals. The reaction set the stage for Spieth’s detailed technical breakdown during his television appearance.
What Did Jordan Spieth Think of James’ Golf Swing?
Jordan Spieth provided a detailed analysis during his appearance on the “Up & Adams Show” with Kay Adams. The three-time major champion was optimistic about James’s initial efforts, noting the basketball star’s compact approach compared to other athletes attempting golf.
“It’s pretty solid. You know, a lot of times, other athletes go to golf, and they start swinging super long, and their arms go everywhere, and it’s compact. So there’s some potential to obviously get a lot more power into it. But he’s off to a good start there,” Spieth explained.
LeBron might be the king on the court, but how’d he do on the links?

However, Spieth identified specific areas for improvement in James’s technique. The most significant issue was limited wrist usage during the swing.
“He can use his wrists more. You know, it’s just kind of an arm swing. So, he can just get a lot more power if you let that club float a little, use his wrists a little bit.”
The golf professional also noted James’s restricted backswing length. “As he goes back, you know the club only gets what looks like a half swing. So he gets a little bit more of a turn, throws his wrists into it a little bit. He can gain 30 yards in 30 minutes,” Spieth observed.
Beyond the technical analysis, Spieth expressed enthusiasm about high-profile athletes like James entering the golf world. “I mean, shoot, anytime you get these stud athletes that want to get into the game, I don’t know if he wants to get in the game…. I don’t think he golfed very often. But shoot, if that’s what he wants to do post-golf, that’s going to be good for us.”
The fact that James is already showing solid fundamentals on day two suggests he has a natural athletic ability that translates to golf. With access to top-tier instruction and his competitive drive, James already appears to have the foundation to develop into a capable golfer if he commits to the sport.
