The BYU-bound superstar took to his Instagram story to share Johnson Jr.’s incredible dunk video, adding his own excited two-word comment: “ganggg cmonn”. This simple but energetic response showed the friendship that exists within the USA Basketball family.
As members of Team USA, Dybantsa and Johnson Jr. experienced something more than just being within the same team. They were both players on the 2025 USA Basketball Men’s U19 National Team, which participated in the FIBA U19 World Cup in Switzerland. From their days on the national team to their college playing days, the teammates remain very good friends.
Dybantsa, who has been named the best player in the country and is set to be chosen as the first pick for the NBA Draft of 2026, has been a hot topic at Utah Prep throughout the entire season.
The 6-foot-9 player from Massachusetts got a lot of people buzzing after he verbally committed to BYU in December 2024. He preferred the Cougars over traditional basketball powerhouses such as Kansas, North Carolina, and Alabama.

Playing for Team USA, Dybantsa has established himself as the best talent in the class. In the first game against Australia, he was the top scorer for the United States with 18 points while adding three rebounds and two assists.
In the game in France, he scored 16 points, hitting 5-of-6 from the field. Nevertheless, against Canada, he was the brightest star with 22 points and put the US team on the path to triumph.
Johnson Jr., who received Dybantsa’s Instagram praise, has made his mark in college basketball. The 6-foot-9 forward from Illinois recently transferred to Michigan after spending his freshman year at Illinois. With the Fighting Illini, Johnson Jr. averaged 7.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting an impressive 64.2% from the field.

He scored a double-double against Australia with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and he also added four blocks and two steals in the same game. Johnson’s most dominant game was against Jordan, where he thrilled the audience by scoring 19 points in 15 minutes.
