WATCH: Raiders’ 73-Year-Old HC Pete Carroll Goes Viral For Wrestling 328-Pound OT Thayer Munford During OTAs

Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks agreed to part ahead of the 2024 season. It appeared to mark the end of his legendary coaching career as he was in his 70s and away from the sidelines for the first time since the 2000 season.

That changed in January, however, as the Las Vegas Raiders hired the 73-year-old, who will be the oldest coach in NFL history when the season begins. The organization is looking for Carroll to bring a culture change and get them back to winning football, giving him a three-year deal with a fourth-year team option. He recently showed that he still has some youth left as he wrestled an offensive tackle during organized team activities.

Raiders Head Coach Pete Carroll Wrestles Offensive Tackle Thayer Munford During OTAs

Organized team activities are underway around the NFL as the preseason is set to kick off in two months. Carroll showed he is younger than his age on the inside as he wrestled with offensive tackle Thayer Munford during camp. Nick Walter of KTNV shared the clip to X, tweeting:

Carroll has already drawn rave reviews from the Raiders front office and roster members. He has been one of the most successful head coaches in NFL history, as his 170 wins are tied with Sean Payton, Mike Shanahan, and Tom Coughlin for the 17th-most all-time.

While he struggled in his first head coaching stint—leading the New York Jets to a 6-10 record in just one season—he improved during a three-year tenure with the New England Patriots, leading them to a 27-21 mark and two postseason appearances. He spent nine seasons at the collegiate level, coaching the USC Trojans to a 97-19 record and one BCS national championship.

Carroll returned to the NFL before the 2010 season, joining the Seahawks. He turned things around for the franchise, which was 137-89-1 during his tenure. Seattle made two Super Bowl appearances during that span, defeating the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. He will look to find similar success in Las Vegas.
