NFL Draft Analyst Has 49ers Selecting OT in Latest Mock Draft

As the draft nears, mocks become more serious and oftentimes more accurate in their predictions of which way a team might be thinking.

In his latest mock draft, Pro Football Network draft analyst Ian Cummings has the 49ers selecting Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton with the No. 31 overall selection. Cummings explains that Guyton isn’t the perfect offensive tackle, but his unheralded athleticism paired with his massive frame primes him to become a first-round pick.

It’s a loaded class at offensive tackle, and the 49ers could realistically land the 6’8″ super athlete to protect Brock Purdy.

49ers Build Out Depth Throughout Latest Mock Draft

After Cummings projected Guyton in Round 1, he anticipates the 49ers get serious about building out depth in later rounds.

In Round 2, Cummings projects the 49ers will select Kentucky cornerback Andru Phillips. Other intriguing picks include adding UCF wide receiver Javon Baker and Michigan running back Blake Corum in the fourth round.

Of course, Baker’s selection could be intriguing depending on what the Niners elect to do with Aiyuk … more on that later. Corum is a high-upside, proven talent that would fit wonderfully in Kyle Shanahan’s backfield with Christian McCaffrey.

Brandon Aiyuk Posts Cryptic Instagram Story

The trade speculation continues surrounding Aiyuk, as the 49ers have not yet extended him, and the NFL Draft is nearing.

Notably, the Pittsburgh Steelers have remained interested in acquiring him via trade, but nothing has materialized yet. Aiyuk added gas to the fire, posting a cryptic Instagram story and showing off a FaceTime screenshot.

“Brother said we got 6 days and it’s fireworks,” Aiyuk captioned the post.

There’s no guarantee the Steelers make the move, but with the NFL Draft being six days away from Aiyuk’s cryptic message, we can assume he’s anticipating a trade and it won’t be long before the 49ers make a long-term decision one way or another.

Aiyuk’s agent has denied that they requested a trade, but signs indicate that the 2020 first-round pick could be on the move.
