The Divisional Round in the NFC saw one dominant performance, and another team do just enough to hold their home field and progress. Now, the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers go head-to-head in San Francisco for the second time this season. The Packers will be desperate to pay back the humiliation of the last meeting, with California not having been a happy hunting ground for the men from Wisconsin this season. As for the 49ers, they will be looking to dominate a second NFC North team in as many weeks with their fearsome defensive line. In what could be an extremely entertaining game, how does our NFL betting team break down the 2020 NFC Championship game with their picks and analysis? Here are some of our NFL bets for this round of the playoffs.

Bet predictions from Ben Rolfe

This is a fascinating game on so many levels. Offensively these two teams rank seventh and eighth this season in offensive DVOA. Defensively, however, the 49ers ranked second in DVOA this season while the Packers ranked 15th. Then again, one of the Packers weaknesses this season has been against deep passing games, and Jimmy Garoppolo ranks among the lowest in the league in average depth of target. When this 49ers defense is on form, it is their defensive line which grabs the headlines, but the Packers offensive line has been the most dominant line in the league according to ESPN’s pass block win rate. As I said, this is simply a fascinating game.

My early feeling is that the 49ers at home will just have enough to win, but they may not cover a spread over a touchdown. However, I have a hard time writing off Rodgers behind the best offensive line in the league this season.

With the total in this one having moved up this week I am going to push it up over 50 with a tease and pair it with the 49ers to win a close game.

2u – Teaser: 49ers -1.5 and Under 52.5 Total Points | -120

A second pick I am going to make in this one is to back the 49ers defensive line. One of Aaron Rodgers biggest weapons in his career has been the hard count, but in Levi’s Stadium I expect the atmosphere to be so wild that he cannot. That combined with what I expect to be an ineffective running game should allow the 49ers defense to get to Rodgers plenty.

1u – San Francisco 49ers over 3.5 total sacks | +125

Bet predictions from Jason Sarney

The Packers versus Niners is a dream NFC title matchup. Aaron Rodgers has another chance to get some draft day revenge on the Niners for not selecting him and going with Alex Smith way back when. He hasn’t forgotten. As complete of a team the Niners are, Rodgers and the running game can counter Nick Bosa. Look for a coverage play here as the Packers keep it close.

1u – Green Bay Packers +7.5 | -115

Bet predictions from Chris Smith

I’ll admit that the “Aaron Rodgers last stand” narrative does give me pause in San Francisco on Sunday evening. The California native has always held a chip on his shoulder, towards the 49ers in particular, for choosing Alex Smith instead of him in the 2005 NFL Draft. How fitting would it be for Rodgers to finally get his revenge in the NFC title game and send Green Bay back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2011?

The problem from the Packers perspective is that other than quarterback, they don’t have many perceived advantages in terms of roster construction against San Francisco. The 49ers have an elite defense, a three-headed monster serving as a running back by committee, an All-Pro tight end, and a distinct coaching advantage in the battle of skateboarders masquerading as NFL play-callers.

When these two teams faced off on Sunday Night Football back in November, things got out of hand early for Green Bay. San Francisco held Aaron Jones to 38 combined yards that night and is coming off a complete lockdown of Dalvin Cook in the Divisional Round. Davante Adams had a huge game last weekend against a mediocre Seahawks secondary, but Richard Sherman is simply not giving up eight catches for 160 yards to anyone. I have the 49ers as the second leg to my Chiefs teaser, but I’d also feel comfortable laying the touchdown in this game with San Francisco.

Early Pick: 2u – Teaser: Chiefs -1.5 & 49ers -1 | -120
