This week, host George Templeton talks about the shooting of New York Giants draft pick Corey Ballantine and the tragic death of his friend and teammate Dwane Williams. Then he talks about ESPN’s coverage of the draft and how they handled Jeffrey Simmons, and the assault charge received as a high school senior. George finishes by talking about Dave Gettleman.
Trades, trades and more trades
There were 40 trades during the 2019 NFL Draft, which was a record amount for the league. One of the biggest trades were arguably the Denver Broncos trading down and selecting Noah Fant and eventually in the second round, Drew Lock. The other was the Miami Dolphins trading for ex-Arizona Cardinals QB Josh Rosen after trading down from pick number 48. For the Broncos, they get the projected best tight-end since they had Julius Thomas. With the Dolphins, they got a 2020 second round pick and a possible future starting QB in Josh Rosen. Both trades have upside but will need both front offices and coaches to make them work.
