The San Francisco 49ers are going to look a lot different than they did to end the 2024 season, as a lot of pieces have moved around. The team traded away wide receiver Deebo Samuel while also releasing major players like Javon Hargrave and Talanoa Hufanga. In addition, the team has signed quarterback Brock Purdy to a massive five-year extension and linebacker Fred Warner to a three-year contract.
This 49ers team is going to feel a lot different, and they could have some struggles as a result of age and having to pay the quarterback significant money after having him on a rookie contract. The team’s 2025 NFL schedule may not look as daunting, but the roster overhaul could be a major factor in how this team looks going forward.
One NFL analyst does not like how this offseason has played out and has completely changed how San Francisco should be viewed this season. Let’s take a deeper dive into what exactly was said.
LeSean McCoy Does Not Believe in the 2025 San Francisco 49ers
On the May 20 edition of FS1’s ‘The Facility,’ former All-Pro and two-time Super Bowl-winning running back LeSean McCoy broke down how he does not believe the 49ers to be a threat after all their offseason moves.
“They don’t have that dominant fear no more. I think when guys play the Niners, it’s gonna be a regular game when before it used to be, ‘Let’s worry about all these things.'”
.@CutOnDime25 is not confident in the 49ers' dominance returning:

The 49ers are in a position where they have an easier schedule, as the .415 winning percentage against gives them the easiest strength of schedule in the NFL this upcoming season. However, things are going to be more difficult without some of the top-tier players on the roster, and they’ll look at the backups of those players or different players trying to fill in the holes on this roster.
This San Francisco team still has talent, but with Christian McCaffrey and Trent Williams being older and moving on from some core pieces, this could be a long season for Purdy, coach Kyle Shanahan, and the rest of the 49ers organization. There will be pressure to win right away, and according to DraftKings Sportsbook, the team is -200 to make the playoffs and +165 to miss it, meaning it could be a difficult season in the Bay Area.
Nonetheless, with tactical genius Shanahan at the wheel, one can never overlook the Niners.
