While there’s been plenty of talk and, really, consensus surrounding Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward going No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Tennessee Titans, there’s also been plenty of speculation where Colorado Buffalo signal-caller Shedeur Sanders could land, especially if he falls out of the top three.

Dane Brugler’s Comments on Shedeur Sanders Potential Slide
Dane Brugler of The Athletic appeared on “The Jim Rome Show” to discuss that scenario and more. Rome asked Brugler “Where do you come out now on Shedeur Sanders, and where do you have him landing?”
“Yeah, that’ll be the big question, right?” Brugler responded.
“I think it’s — my opinion on Shedeur hasn’t really changed from the season until now. I see him as a late one [late first-round pick], early second-round pick, and for whatever reason it’s become a ‘you either love him or hate him’ type of thing where, you know what, I kind of like him.”
Depending on the source, Sanders is going as high as No. 2 overall to the Cleveland Browns and as low as No. 24 overall in various trade situations involving the Browns or New York Giants over the last few days.
“And that’s OK to be in the middle where you see the flaws, you see some things that’ll work, that’ll translate; I’m just not going to take that chance in the top five.”
In taking Sanders in the top five, he stated that teams are potentially missing out on players like Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter and Sanders’ teammate, cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter.
Brugler then went into where he could land in the draft.
“Now the question of where he’s going to ultimately land up, it gets fascinating, because if he doesn’t go top three, then it’s ‘Shedeur Watch’ the rest of the draft.”
“Does he go at 9 to the Saints? Could he fall to the 20s when we’re talking the Steelers? Maybe one of those teams, the Browns, the Giants, trading back up into the late part of Round 1 in the 20s to go get him. Could Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss leapfrog Shedeur and be the second quarterback drafted?” Brugler continued.
That’s certainly a possibility. It’s not something you see in mock drafts often, but analyst Todd McShay had that scenario playing out with Dart going No. 9 overall to the Saints.
Brugler then finished talking about how teams themselves are also looking forward to draft day to see where Sanders will land.
PFSN’s Latest Mock Draft Projects Sanders in Top 3
In PFSN’s latest 3-round mock draft by Joe DeLeone, he had Sanders going No. 2 overall to the Cleveland Browns.
DeLeone wrote, “Deshaun Watson was a blatant and ugly mistake by the Browns. Having the second-overall pick allows for them to reset at QB with a very cheap contract and the opportunity to build a firmer foundation. While Cleveland hasn’t historically been successful, it doesn’t know the next time it’ll be picking this early with a shot at getting a high-floor starter like Sanders.”
